Highlights of the DEFT 8.0 750
Our DEFT 8.0 750 comes with a carbon front frame and aluminium rear triangle, 170mm travel at the rear and front, the wheels rotate in the large 29″ dimension. It looks like its “little” brother RENDER, the wing between the top tube and down tube is both a design element and a mounting point for the Trunnion shock. All cables are integrated and run along the head tube via the Acros headset into the frame. In addition, a mechanical “Block Lock” stop in the lower bearing shell prevents the fork from slamming into the frame in the event of a crash. The speed sensor is now hidden in the dropout of the frame, the signaling magnet rotates past it with the rear brake disc.
Maximum control and comfort on the trail is guaranteed by the Fox suspension, consisting of the sublime Fox 36 Float Performance 3-position fork and the Float X Performance rear shock. Together, they ensure that a lot of grip is generated and yet there is always enough counterpressure at the front when climbing steep terrain so that you don’t break a sweat. The short, wide Raceface Chester cockpit and the enormously powerful Magura MT5 four-piston brake are also helpful here and ensure that you always have full control over the terrain. The Radon dropper post provides 150mm of travel, which you can comfortably access from the handlebars, so that you have maximum freedom of movement to the rear in technical terrain. In general, you can expand your range of motion with pedelecs, but with the DEFT we add a strong argument: the drive comes from Bosch and is called Performance CX. In its latest version, it boasts a powerful 85 Nm of torque and 250 watts of maximum support, and the Bosch Smart System offers you plenty of options to provide you with information and connect you to the system via app.
So that you can also enjoy the enormous thrust of the CX motor over long distances, we have installed a battery with 750Wh capacity. Depending on your mood, you can add various extra loops to your after-work ride. You can easily remove the battery via the flap under the down tube to exchange it or to charge it at home, but of course you can also charge it directly on the bike via an external port on the seat tube. For many kilometres on the trails, we have equipped the DEFT 8.0 750 with a solid and perfectly functioning Shimano XT 12-speed shifting system with an enormous bandwidth, so that you always stay in the flow uphill, even beyond a 15% gradient. Last but not least, you have a light and solid SUNringlé Düroc SD37 Comp wheelset on board, which with its 32mm jaw width accepts the high-grip Maxxis Minion DHF/DHR tyres in the stylish Skinwall version. With the DEFT 8.0 750 you push your limits!
The DEFT Family
DEFT means as much as “skillful” or “nimble”. And that was exactly the approach in the development of a long-travel eMTB with motor. The bare key data of an E-Enduro with 170mm travel, 29″ wheels and full, cross-stable equipment for maximum trail fun does not sound like a nimble bike at first. But that is exactly what we have succeeded: a bike with massive travel, enormous reserve on fast, blocky trails and yet playful handling when it comes to the technical stuff! The basis for the driving fun is the DEFT main frame made of carbon, which elegantly accommodates the shock on its wing between the top tube and down tube. As with the little brother RENDER, the battery disappears cleanly and silently guided in a rail in the down tube, where you can easily remove it via a flap for charging or replacement. But you do not have to, because a lateral charging socket on the seat tube allows of course also the charging process with installed battery.
The cable routing is ultraclean, all cables go in front directly through the Acros ICR headset in the frame, from there they run cleanly and protected in the frame. The headset also houses the block lock stop protection, so you do not damage the frame in case of a fall. The speed sensor sits protected in the left dropout and gets the signal from the magnet that rotates with the rear brake disc. For future reference, there’s a recess in the top tube to accommodate a clean mini-display. A perfect match for the full-throttle carbon chassis is the latest-generation, high-torque Bosch Performance CX motor with its 85Nm and 750WH battery, giving you epic touring. The radius of action is significantly extended, you can shred all day long like never before. And last but not least, we give all DEFT models a super-solid equipment that fits the DNA of the bike, so that you lack nothing on the trail. It will be hefty with our DEFT!
The DEFT Frame
The DEFT frame is an absolute feast for the eyes and is technically equipped with the latest refinements. With 170mm travel at the front and rear, we not only offer a thoroughbred E-Enduro, but also enormous reserves on the trail and thus ensure a lot of riding fun. The clean look is ensured by the cables and lines that are completely routed through the headset. It also has a block-lock function, which prevents consequential damage in the event of a fall.
The wing-like cover, which connects the top and down tube, not only looks good, but is also an absolute technical highlight. Both the carbon main frame and the Trunnion shock mount provide a lot of stiffness and stability. As with the RENDER, the lower shock mount also provides part of the rocker, which gives the frame unique kinematics and particularly high rear end stability. The 750Wh large battery is integrated into the down tube by means of a cartridge, which ensures quiet riding and a wobble-free fit. The battery can be removed quickly and easily thanks to a rubberised cover that closes off the down tube. The battery can be charged without removing it via the charging socket on the seat tube. The rear derailleur is mounted on the new, manufacturer-independent standardised UDH hanger, and the speed sensor is elegantly integrated into the brake disc and chain stay, making the classic spoke magnet a thing of the past.
