Highlights of the DEFT 10.0 750
The basic ingredients for epic trail rides are all at the start of the DEFT carbon frame: massive suspension with 170mm travel front and rear, 29″ wheels for best rollover behaviour, Powertube battery integrated into the down tube, fully integrated cable routing through the top cap of the Acros headset, speed sensor integrated into the dropout end, external charging port with protective flap on the seat tube and many other technical highlights as well as fine detail solutions.
The heartbeat of the DEFT comes from the drivetrain, where the Bosch Performance CX Smart System is the perfect partner on board, with its massive 85Nm of torque and up to 340% pedalling assistance for a fast shuttle to the trail entrance. How fast it goes and how much you want to contribute is up to you alone, four riding modes are available for this. Whether gentle support in Eco mode, automatic feeling with the EMTB mode or lift feeling on Turbo – you decide. To ensure that you don’t experience the trail rush just once, we’ve installed the 750Wh Powertube battery, the highest-capacity Bosch battery currently available. Ride the local mountain twice on your after-work ride? No problem with the DEFT 10.0 750. In addition to the motor, the X01 shifting system from SRAM also helps, offering extremely crisp and precise gear changes in combination with the 10-52-tooth cassette and an enormous range of gear ratios, so that even the steepest climb is a success.
The balanced geometry helps you on the climb and keeps the rear wheel firmly on the ground for plenty of grip. When it comes to the descent, it’s time for the DEFT! The perfect Enduro suspension from Fox gives you a lot of comfort, but at the same time good feedback on the trail and gives you reserves in technical sections and counterpressure on steep steps. At the front, the Fox 38 Factory FIT GRIP2 springs and damps the top fork in this range, which you can fine-tune according to your personal preferences in the rebound and compression damping in both high and low speed settings. The Float X2 Factory rear shock is in no way inferior to the fork, in combination they are irresistible and never let you down. Just like the chassis, the dropper post is also from Fox, the transfer can be lowered comfortably from the handlebar to give you maximum movement on steep descents. Like the fork and shock, it also shimmers in a charming Kashima coating, which signals from afar that this is the top material. For maximum control in the terrain, we installed the ergonomic RaceFace Turbine R cockpit with a short stem and 780mm wide handlebar with a perfect shape. This is also where the brutally bitey yet finely controllable Magura MT7 four-piston brake is mounted, which stands firm at all times with its large MDR-P discs. The contact points with the body are equipped with products from SDG: the handlebars are fitted with the hand-flattering Thrice grip and the saddle is the Bel Air V3 Max with a small spoiler at the end of the saddle to provide more pressure on steep climbs. The fact that the overall weight of the DEFT 10.0 750 remains low is partly due to the lightweight Newmen Evolution SL E.G.30 wheels, which nevertheless easily withstand the forces that occur on an ebike. They are fitted with high-grip Maxxis tyres, the combination of Assegai front and Minion DHR II rear is beyond reproach, puncture protection and top rubber compound are of course included. DEFT 10.0 750 delivers!
The DEFT Family
DEFT means as much as “skillful” or “nimble”. And that was exactly the approach in the development of a long-travel eMTB with motor. The bare key data of an E-Enduro with 170mm travel, 29″ wheels and full, cross-stable equipment for maximum trail fun does not sound like a nimble bike at first. But that is exactly what we have succeeded: a bike with massive travel, enormous reserve on fast, blocky trails and yet playful handling when it comes to the technical stuff! The basis for the driving fun is the DEFT main frame made of carbon, which elegantly accommodates the shock on its wing between the top tube and down tube. As with the little brother RENDER, the battery disappears cleanly and silently guided in a rail in the down tube, where you can easily remove it via a flap for charging or replacement. But you do not have to, because a lateral charging socket on the seat tube allows of course also the charging process with installed battery.
The cable routing is ultraclean, all cables go in front directly through the Acros ICR headset in the frame, from there they run cleanly and protected in the frame. The headset also houses the block lock stop protection, so you do not damage the frame in case of a fall. The speed sensor sits protected in the left dropout and gets the signal from the magnet that rotates with the rear brake disc. For future reference, there’s a recess in the top tube to accommodate a clean mini-display. A perfect match for the full-throttle carbon chassis is the latest-generation, high-torque Bosch Performance CX motor with its 85Nm and 750WH battery, giving you epic touring. The radius of action is significantly extended, you can shred all day long like never before. And last but not least, we give all DEFT models a super-solid equipment that fits the DNA of the bike, so that you lack nothing on the trail. It will be hefty with our DEFT!
The DEFT Frame
The DEFT frame is an absolute feast for the eyes and is technically equipped with the latest refinements. With 170mm travel at the front and rear, we not only offer a thoroughbred E-Enduro, but also enormous reserves on the trail and thus ensure a lot of riding fun. The clean look is ensured by the cables and lines that are completely routed through the headset. It also has a block-lock function, which prevents consequential damage in the event of a fall.
The wing-like cover, which connects the top and down tube, not only looks good, but is also an absolute technical highlight. Both the carbon main frame and the Trunnion shock mount provide a lot of stiffness and stability. As with the RENDER, the lower shock mount also provides part of the rocker, which gives the frame unique kinematics and particularly high rear end stability. The 750Wh large battery is integrated into the down tube by means of a cartridge, which ensures quiet riding and a wobble-free fit. The battery can be removed quickly and easily thanks to a rubberised cover that closes off the down tube. The battery can be charged without removing it via the charging socket on the seat tube. The rear derailleur is mounted on the new, manufacturer-independent standardised UDH hanger, and the speed sensor is elegantly integrated into the brake disc and chain stay, making the classic spoke magnet a thing of the past.
